Invest In Skagit Kids, ensuring that our children are receiving the care and development needed to succeed in school and life. We're ready!
"Babies are born every day. Even during a quarantine. Imagine giving birth during this very strange time – childbirth is overwhelming under the best of circumstances." -Jen Lindbeck, Welcome Baby Coordinator
Invest In Skagit Kids is bringing the entire community together to provide long-term solutions to Skagit County. We are doing this by starting at the beginning. United Way of Skagit County is working closely with Skagit Valley Hospital, partner agencies, and fundraising partners to lift-up and equip local families with the tools they need to prepare their children for success in school and life. The United Way of Skagit County and United General District 304's WIC program are partnering together to share information with parents and caregivers about the importance of early literacy paired with easy at home activities. At key appointments, WIC educators, share the early literacy curriculum and give the child a book to take with them and add to their home library. Parents/caregivers are also provided with the “We’re Reading Raconteur”, a newsletter packed with fun literacy activities to do at home, tips for reading the book they were given, developmental milestones related to literacy, language and social emotional skills, and information on local library storytimes.
With your help, we can have every child in Skagit County be ready to learn by the time they enter Kindergarten.
Thank you to our amazing event sponsors!
